KRISTEN PICKENS

Kristen Pickens is an experienced Orchestra Teacher, Violinist, Upper String Specialist and Orchestra Clinician. Kristen is a teacher in the Rio Rancho Public School elementary orchestra program and is also responsible for maintenance of string instruments. Throughout the RRPS district, you can often find Kristen in a long-term, supportive roll when an Orchestra/Music Teacher cannot be in the class.

Kristen studied extensively with the violin professors at Denver University, Northern Arizona University and University of New Mexico. As a long time New Mexican resident, Kristen helps her family run Hummingbird Music Camp, operates her own private violin studio, is also an Industry Session Violinist and Worship Team Leader at church where she plays a variety of instruments.

Kristen believes that family and children are a gift. Her elementary orchestra classes are a safe and fun atmosphere where each student quickly develops technique, tone, musicianship and the ability to read music. Kristen enjoys teaching children to help develop invaluable skills and along the way a love for music!
