FRANK SLIFE
Mr. Slife teaches band at Lincoln Middle School in the Rio Rancho Public School Disctrict. Mr. Slife belongs to the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) and the New Mexico Music Educators Association (NMMEA). Currently, he serves as the New Mexico state chair of the National Band Association.
Mr. Slife grew up in a small town outside of Cleveland, OH called Avon Lake. He earned degrees in music education from The University of Akron (Akron, OH) and Bowling Green State University (Bowling Green, OH). Prior to to New Mexico, Mr. Slife was the band graduate teaching assistant at the University of Akron under the guidance of Dr. Galen S. Karriker and Dr. Andrew D. Feyes. Mr. Slife guest conducted the Akron Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble, and assisted with teaching the University Band. Mr. Slife also assisted with the teaching and recruitment of “Ohio’s Pride” marching band. Mr. Slife was the assistant director of Akron’s Blue & Gold Brass, the basketball pep band.
Mr. Slife plays the euphonium. His primary teachers include Dr. Christopher Blaha (Akron), David Saltzman (BGSU), and Tucker Jolly (Akron). Mr. Slife studied conducting with Dr. Galen Karriker (Akron) and Dr. Bruce Moss (BGSU).
