Educational Outreach Series

Our Educational Outreach Series is designed to provide opportunities for students in our program and the community to learn from talented musicians from Albuquerque and across the world. Most events are open to the public - adults and students - whether you're involved in AYSP or not. However, please note specific guidelines for each event.

Violin Masterclass with Dr. Bryan Hall

University of Alaska, Fairbanks, Violin and VIola Professor Bryan Hall will be presenting a performance demonstration and lessons with AYSP students. The event includes lessons with soloists from JS, YCO, YO and YS. This event is free and open to the public, so invite your friends and family. No RSVP required, just stop by and enjoy.

Jeffrey Grogan, Guest Conductor and Clinician

Conductor, Jeffrey Grogan, will be joining YS and YO rehearsals for private clinics. Jeffrey Grogan is the Education and Community Engagement Conductor of the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra. He also serves as the Conductor and Artistic Director of the Greater Newark Youth Orchestras, the InterSchool Orchestras of New York and the New Jersey Youth Symphony, and as an adjudicator and clinician at festivals throughout the country. This is a closed event for YS and YO students only.

College Preparation Workshop with Glenda Durano

The process of searching for the perfect university can be a daunting task. With over 3,500 four-year institutions in the U.S. alone (not to mention a myriad of international schools), it’s difficult to know where to start. In 2009, Glenda started College Advising and Planning Services with the goal of providing guidance and support to students and parents regarding financial and practical opportunities that enhance the student’s talents and abilities. This event is free and open to all interested AYSP students. AYSP students are welcome to bring guests to this event, so invite interested friends and/or family.

Brass Masterclass with Dr. Joseph Martin

Dr. Joseph Martin is Assistant Professor at the Lamont School of Music, University of Denver. Dr. Martin is Director of the Lamont Wind Ensemble, and heads the Lamont Chamber Wind Program. Join us as Dr. Martin presents a performance demonstration and lessons with AYSP students. The event includes lessons with soloists from JS, YCO, YO and YS.
