Percussionists should perform in as many areas as possible, i.e., snare drum, timpani, and mallets. Percussionists should bring their own snare drum and a copy of your music to the audition.

Please note that there is a $5.00 audition fee, which students should bring to their audition. Students will be auditioned on a prepared solo of their choice (no accompaniment) and a scale of their choice. Vibrato is encouraged on the scale.
NOTE: Students in grades 6 - 8 may be placed in Prelude Strings, Junior Orchestra or Junior Symphony, if selected. The AYS and AYO tour each year, and participation in the tour is required by all members.
PLEASE NOTE:
1. All public, parochial, private and home school students within a 50-mile radius of Albuquerque are eligible.
2. Students in grades 6 - 8 and 11 years old as of September 15th, 2011 are eligible.
3. Students must be enrolled as regular members of their school band or orchestra, if offered. Enrollment will be verified.
4. Students accepted into the AYS Program will be required to pay a tuition fee as established annually by the AYSP, Inc. Board of Directors. Need- based financial aid is available.
Students selected will be notified BY MAIL IN MID JUNE.
