The Albuquerque Youth Orchestra is a quality full orchestra that began in the 1974-1975 season and is currently under the direction of Sayra Siverson. This high school- aged group (grades 9-12) recently performed the world premiere of the piece "Secrets" by "Jeremy Hegg" which was commissioned especially for the AYO and won raves and a standing ovation from the audience.

The AYO began a yearly concert tour in 2002 and so far has traveled and performed in Colorado, Arizona & New Mexico.

Past conductors of the AYO include; HT Payne (deceased), Kim Thompson, Ron Teare, Steve Romer & Vincent Kole.

AYO usually rehearses from 6:30 to 9:15 on Monday nights at Sandia High School.
