Steve Snowden, AJYB Conductor

Steve Snowden Stephen C. Snowden Jr. Holds a Music Education Degree from the University of New Mexico and is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Music Education from the same institution. While at The University of New Mexico as an undergraduate, he was a Friends of Music Scholarship recipient. He also assisted with the "Spirit" marching band and ran the Lady Lobos basketball pep band. He started his teaching career as a brass coach at many of the local high schools while he was earning his undergraduate degree.

His employment with APS started at Cibola High School and Polk Middle School. He has served as the co-vice president of middle school bands for the district VII chapter of the New Mexico Music Educators Association. He is currently the band director at Jackson Middle School and the assistant band director at Eldorado High School. Now in his fifth year teaching in APS, his bands have consistently earned excellent and superior ratings at the district, state and national levels. In addition to his duties at Jackson and Eldorado, Mr. Snowden is also the brass and percussion coach for the AJO and is in demand as a clinician and adjudicator.
