John Sanks, AJYB Conductor

John C. Sanks earned his Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Montana State University. From 1995 to the present, John has been Director of Bands at Eldorado High School. During this time, his bands have won four NMAA state band competitions, was selected as the NMMEA Honor Band in 1997, and his jazz bands have been chosen as the NMIAJE Honor Band for five years.

In 2004, John received the New Mexico Music Educator of the Year award. He has received additional awards from the National Federation Interscholastic Music Association and was named their Teacher of the Year in 1999 and 2004.

In addition to his outstanding accomplishments at Eldorado High School, John is the Director of the Albuquerque Concert Band and the Albuquerque Jazz Orchestra.
